Barely an hour after the presidential address as regards the Corona Virus pandemic, the rugby governing body, Uganda Rugby Union, has suspended any rugby activities for a month.
In his evening address, President Museveni reiterated the need to disperse big crowds and amongst the precautions, called for the suspension of sports gatherings for at least 32 days.
In a statement from the URU, rugby activities in all regions and at all levels have been called off, but with the encouragement of the concerned parties to keep doing regular exercise and keep fit.
This comes with little surprise as Uganda is yet to register any positive case of the virus but is in a deadly sandwich where all our neighbors do have cases of the virus.
Most affected are the regional competitions, schools league, and the Uganda Rugby Nile Stout Premiership.
Upon return, the Uganda Rugby league shall resume with a floodlights game between the Warriors and Heathens at Kyadondo and a mammoth clash between 2018 champions Black Pirates and 2019 Uganda Cup winners Betway Kobs.
